With restaurants, bars, and other foodservice establishments in the state of Washington having on-premise dining shut down for the immediate future, take-out and delivery are helping to keep these businesses afloat.

In Seattle, businesses are using creativity to get through this tough economic time. One of those is Piroshky Piroshky in the city’s Pike Place Market. The bakery is teaming up with another business, Pike Place Chowder, to do home delivery. At its website, customers can order a family deal that includes a 32-ounce chowder of their choice and four Piroshkies and Piroshky bread rolls for $49.95.

On Sunday, March 15, Piroshky Piroshky began livestreaming from its bakery. On its website, visitors could see what the bakers were making and feel like they were part of the process. It’s an attempt to connect them, so that more people will want to support Piroshky Piroshky and the other businesses at Pike Place Market.

While business has been considerably down for the bakery, owner Olga Sagan says that its customers are being very generous in the meantime.

“Our tips are going up. I hear our tips are going up three to four times,” she says.

Piroshky Piroshky was founded in 1992 at Pike Place Market. It’s renowned for its savory and sweet Russian pastries, especially its piroshkies. These baked filled bread rolls are a popular street food in Russia.
