Trophy Cupcakes is already displaying plenty of creativity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week, the Seattle bakery announced it had launched Decorate Your Own Cupcake kits for customers stuck at home.
Now, the bakery is running a creative promotion to help its community. Customers can “pay it forward” to local non-profits in the Seattle area. They can purchase cupcakes from the Pay it Forward Collection to be donated and delivered to one of the bakery’s partners.
So far, cupcakes have been donated to Mary’s Place, Fare Start, Children's Hospital, Jewish Family Services, Dignity for Divas, and local food banks, among others.
“We will get through this together, especially if we all Pay it Forward! As you may have heard, along with so many, we are seriously struggling. Everyone needs a little help right now: hospitals, first responders, families without enough, and lonely seniors,” Trophy Cupcakes says on its website. “At Trophy we believe everyone deserves little moments of joy, a treat to brighten their day, a fun at-home activity, and a little celebration on their birthday. SO, in an effort to help others and Trophy at the same time...we’re asking you to Pay it Forward.”
Once the coronavirus crisis has ended and the bakery is back on its feet, it plans to donate one dozen cupcakes for every dozen purchased through the Pay it Forward promotion. This unique idea allows the bakery to benefit its community and itself in the short term.
