Chef Zac Young, known for his playful takes on American desserts (including the all-in-one Thanksgiving sensation, The PieCaken), is set to open Sprinkletown Donuts & Ice Cream at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut this April. His newest addition to the Sprinkletown family focuses on customizable donuts and signature ice cream sundaes with a “choose your own adventure” menu and specialty creations. The bright and whimsical design reflects the menu, decked out with sprinkle light fixtures on the ceiling and a display for guests to watch the donuts being made to order.
Guests can choose their own finishes on their fresh, hot donuts with glazes like bourbon honey or strawberry lime glaze, flavored sugars like popcorn or crunchy spicy and toppings including everything from bacon sprinkles to lucky marshmallows. For the ice cream, guests will choose from four base flavors, including dairy free options, and add their choice of sauce, like hawt fudge and flavored magic shells, and toppings, such as confetti cake croutons and cotton candy pop rocks – with a variety of sprinkles always free.
The menu features signature Sprinkletown donuts and ice cream created by Chef Zac Young like the FriedCaken made with a pumpkin spice donut topped with candied pecans and apple caramel glaze, a nod to his dessert sensation the PieCaken; the Secret Snack sundae made with caramel corn ice cream, Maker’s Mark butterscotch, honey-glazed donut croutons, and chocolate covered pretzels in a red velvet waffle cone; The Unicorn sundae made with strawberry sauce, cotton candy pop-rocks, and golden watermelon magic shell; and “High Roller” donut creations like the Sprinkletown Supreme made with strawberry-champagne glaze and gold sprinkles.
“Having grown up going to Foxwoods with my father, the resort holds a very special place in my heart,” says Chef Young. “I could not think of a more fitting location to unveil my newest Sprinkletown concept, which will be a sweet playground for both kids and adults alike.”
Recognized as one of the country’s top pastry chefs, Chef Young has made numerous TV appearances including being on the judges panel of Food Network’s Halloween Baking Championship, a finalist in the inaugural season of Bravo’s Top Chef: Just Desserts and on The Cooking Channel’s Unique Sweets.
Sprinkletown Donuts & Ice Cream will be located in the Great Cedars Hotel at Foxwoods Resort Casino, across from Cedars Steak and Oysters. The location is set to open in April.
