Portland, Oregon-based Voodoo Doughnut is looking to honor a local sports team with its latest doughnut innovation. The Portland Pickle Doughnut is inspired by collegiate woodbat baseball team the Portland Pickles and its mascot, Dillon the Pickle.

The new doughnut features peanut butter frosting, pickle chips, and a sriracha hot sauce drizzle. Voodoo Doughnut will begin selling the Portland Pickle doughnut out of its pink mobile truck on Friday, July 12 when the Pickles face off against the San Francisco Seals. Voodoo Doughnut founders Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon will throw out the first pitch for the July 12 game.

As part of the new partnership, Voodoo Doughnut and Portland Pickles will also be selling co-branded shirts.

“Doughnuts and baseball are as American as you can get. Much like Voodoo, the Pickles aren’t afraid to shake things up and take a step away from the ordinary. We’re thrilled to team up with another organization that knows how to put a twist on classic traditions. We believe this partnership will hit it out of the park,” says Sara Heise of Voodoo Doughnut.

“We are always striving to grow within this market. Beginning the relationship with Portland staples, such as Voodoo Doughnut, is important for our growth as a viable entertainment option for Portland residents during the summer,” adds Portland Pickles general manager Ross Campbell.
