From January 26-30, the 19th Sirha took place in Lyon, France, featuring innovative exhibits and 21 contests representing all trades (such as cheese specialists, butchers, bakers, pastry chefs, baristas). The contests included the finals of the Bocuse d’Or and Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie — celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019.
Owner Amanda Michael, who named her place after daughter Jane, opened her first San Francisco location in 2011, starting with pastries, breakfast and lunch items. A second store followed in 2013. Then came their “bursting at the seams” moment.
