To celebrate the passion and entrepreneurial spirit that independent bakeries carry on every day, Flavor Right has doubled the Icing Funds grand prize from $5,000 to $10,000. In addition, there will be five second prizes at $2,000 each.
For the Icing Funds contest, entrants are asked to complete a submission form on Flavor Right’s Facebook page telling their independent retail bakery’s story, the challenges they face, and their plans for what they would do with the prize money if they won.
Last year’s two first place winners were Easy Peasy Decadent Desserts in Greensboro, North Carolina and Sprinkleista Bakery in Schenectady, New York. At the time of winning the award, the bakeries planned to expand French macaron production and purchase a new oven, respectively.
The contest runs from now until Friday, August 17 at 11:59:59 p.m. EST. Each entrant must be a current, legal resident of one of the 50 United States or District of Columbia, at least 18 years of age as of the time of entry (at least 19 years of age if a resident of Alabama or Nebraska), and the owner of an independent, eligible bakery located within the 50 United States/D.C. with twenty or fewer locations. Winners of the 2017 and 2017 contests are not eligible to participate.
