Chef Wylie Dufresne’s latest enterprise, Du’s Donuts, opened at the William Vale Hotel in Brooklyn, New York in April of 2017. The former James Beard award-winning chef looked to bring his special take on donuts, with a diverse lineup including flavors such as creamsicle and banana graham flavors.

The shop also serves breakfast sandwiches, and the latest is exciting for breakfast lovers. It is a grilled cheese sandwich that also features bacon and scrambled eggs. It’s made by two slices of Land O’ Lakes processed fromage, soft and moist scrambled eggs mingled with bits of bacon and a little cream cheese, all between two slices of Martin’s potato bread.

The sandwich comes unsliced in a paper jacket and only costs $4.75 per sandwich. A bacon-less version is also available for $4.25 for people not looking for meat in their breakfast sandwiches. They will only be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. or while supplies last.

Dufresne was looking for portability with his sandwich. “You can take it outside and walk around with it,” he tells Grubstreet.

Wylie Dufresne follows in the footsteps of his great-grandfather, who ran a diner in Rhode Island more than six decades ago.
