Texas-based Bird Bakery is moving beyond its home state’s borders with a new location that opened in March in Denver, Colorado. The bakery’s third shop follows the first shop opening in San Antonio in 2012 and the second in Dallas in 2016.

“I wanted to open our third location in Denver because this city has always had a very special place in my heart,” owner Elizabeth Chambers tells The Know - The Denver Post.

Chambers says the bakery has been working on the idea for the Denver location for three years. She grew up in the area before settling in Texas, opening her bakery and becoming a television personality appearing on several Food Network shows and the 2007 film The Game Plan.

Chambers first opened the bakery in honor of her grandmother, who owned a catering business in San Antonio.

“Most of the recipes we serve at Bird are my grandmother’s recipes and the rest are my mother’s recipes and mine,” she says. “It has always been important to me that my mother’s and grandmother’s recipes and legacies live on forever, and I certainly hope I’m able to achieve that with Bird bakery.”
