Portland Style Cheesecake and Dessert Co., based in Portland, Oregon, introduces new 3-inch cheesecakes available in five popular flavors: classic vanilla, double lemon, pumpkin gingersnap, double chocolate and marionberry.
There are also four 3-inch cake flavors: coconut dream, double chocolate, caramel pumpkin and double lemon. They sell for $5.99-$8.99 at the following retail stores: Zupan’s and New Seasons in the Portland metropolitan area and PCC Natural Foods Market in Seattle, WA. Fred Meyer sells the products at 132 stores in both states.
The new approximately double-serving sizes are also sold wholesale to Oregon Health Sciences University and special consumer orders can be made three days in advance at the company website, www.pscheesecake.com.
Kim Haines, owner of Portland Style Cheesecake & Dessert, said the new products have been flying off the shelves.
“Our customers enjoy the quality and taste of our desserts and the new retail items fill a growing market for smaller serving sizes,” Haines said. “An increasing number of people want quality, homemade, great tasting desserts made of all natural, locally sourced ingredients and that is our niche.”
The company changed its distribution in 2013, which Haines credits to a significant milestone in 2014 – surpassing $1 million in sales for the first time. In September 2013, DPI Specialty Foods started distributing the desserts and Peterson Company began selling products in October 2014.
