Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Wisconsin Bakers Association has announced a change in plans for its annual Paczki Preview Party, in which local bakeries offered samples of a variety of paczki in a preview of what’s to come for Fat Tuesday (when the pastry is typically enjoyed).

This year, with Fat Tuesday taking place earlier on February 16, the WBA will host its third annual paczki party on Sunday, January 31 with curbside pickup at the Polish Center of Wisconsin in Franklin, Wisconsin. Instead of an in-person event, there will be a virtual party for event attendees to celebrate safely at home.

Curbside pickup will take place from 10 am to 4 pm CST on January 31, and each order comes complete with a Zoom Room invitation.

This year, paczki lovers can create a custom Paczki Party Box by selecting one regular sized paczki flavor from each of the following WBA member bakeries: Cranky Al’s, Grebe’s Bakery, Le Rêve Patisserie and Café and Elsie Mae’s Canning and Pies. The Party Box also includes Mardi Gras beads and a link to the virtual party featuring a Paczki Party Playlist, opportunity to cast a vote for People’s Choice, a coloring contest and more. A hooded sweatshirt is also available as an add-on.

Pre-orders for the event are encouraged and can be placed at the Paczki Party website.
