On Thursday, April 26, Philly Pretzel Factory is giving a free pretzel to every visitor at each of its locations throughout the country. The offer, celebrating National Pretzel Day, has been made every year for eleven consecutive years.

The Philly-style pretzel brand expects to distribute more than 50,000 pretzels this year at its more than 170 locations. Additionally, Philly Pretzel Factory locations will award the first 100 customers in line with a card redeemable for a free pretzel every day throughout the month of May.

“When we started giving away pretzels on National Pretzel Day, we didn’t realize what a huge success the holiday would become,” says Dan DiZio, CEO and co-founder of Philly Pretzel Factory. “We have guests who start asking about the pretzel giveaway in January, and we know that the only reason we’ve been able to succeed as a business is because of their patronage. We celebrate the holiday to give back and thank our loyal customers because we truly appreciate them.”

Pretzels have a big place in Philadelphia. In 2003, it is in the state of Pennsylvania where Governor Ed Rendell first declared National Pretzel Day to acknowledge the importance of the pretzel to the state's history and economy. 80% of the nation’s pretzels are made in Pennsylvania, making it the unofficial Pretzel Capital of America.
