On Tuesday, December 5, Mars Wrigley Confectionery U.S. announced that it had chosen its new U.S. headquarters. The branch of Mars, Incorporated which was created in October 2016 to operate in 70 countries will base its U.S. operations in New Jersey, while its global operations will continue to be based in Chicago.

By July 2020, the cities of Hackettstown and Newark will be home to 1,500 Mars Wrigley Confectionery employees total. The Hackettstown location will be joined by a newly-created Newark location. The company was recently approved for a 10-year, $31 million tax incentive by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority to expand its Newark operations, with an additional $1 million tax incentive for Hackettstown.

The Mars Wrigley Confectionery U.S. segment of Mars, Incorporated includes chocolate brands such as Snickers and M&M’s and confectionery items such as Skittles and Starburst. From pre-chopped to whole candy, many of its items are included in desserts at retail bakeries across the country. Cookies, cakes, brownies, beverages, and many more bakery products feature Mars Wrigley Confectionery inclusions.
