General Mills Foodservice announces that Sugar Plum Bakery in Virginia Beach, Va., and Paige Flores, one of the bakery’s customers, are the fourth-annual grand prize winners of the Make a Cake Face Sweepstakes from Pillsbury Bakers’ Plus. Each received a $2,500 cash prize through the promotion that asks consumers to share a photo from a special “cake face” moment and name their favorite neighborhood bakery through the Make a Cake Face Facebook page. In addition to the chance to win the grand prize of $2,500, consumers and bakeries were eligible to win monthly prizes of $250 for bakeries and $100 for customers throughout the year.

“Through the Make a Cake Face sweepstakes, we have received hundreds of pictures from bakery customers nationwide that showcase how cake plays an important role in celebrating life’s special moments,” said Grace Gilbertson, senior marketing manager for General Mills Foodservice. “We are particularly excited about this year’s winning bakery, Sugar Plum Bakery of Virginia Beach, known for its fabulous cakes and baked goods as well as its special role within the community.”

The 2014 grand prize winning bakery, Sugar Plum Bakery, is a non-profit bakery staffed by individuals with disabilities who turn out the bakery’s delicious selection of sweet treats, signature cakes, wedding cakes and breads on a daily basis. Recently celebrating 27 years in business, Sugar Plum Bakery prides itself on providing skills, life lessons and confidence through its training and employment programs that have enables hundreds of people with disabilities to work and learn valuable skills and confidence.

The winning photo shows Flores enjoying one of Sugar Plum Bakery’s signature specialties, Coconut Cake, in celebration of the birth of her first grandchild who was born on her 25th wedding anniversary.

“We have been a customer of Sugar Plum Bakery for a long time,” says Flores. “I love their mission and purpose. They have special people who work there and their cookies and cakes are very good!”
