New York City-based Zaro’s Family Bakery has announced the launch of a new line of challah items available for grocery retailers. The fourth-generation family business’s Burger Buns, Hot Dog Buns, Dinner Rolls and Sandwich Bread are all made using the Zaro family challah, an item that has been available at Zaro’s Family Bakery stores for decades.

The Challah Collection joins the bakery’s existing retail items, which include Raspberry Rugelach, Chocolate Rugelach, Carrot Cake, Blackout Cake and Manhattan Cake. These items are currently available at retail stores like Kings Food Markets, Balducci’s, DeCiccos & Sons, Big Y, Heinen’s Grocery Store, Harris Teeter, Roche Bros. and more.

“When developing The Challah Collection we were on a mission to make everyday bread better,” says Michael Zaro, fourth-generation owner and chief operating officer of Zaro’s Family Bakery. “Our challah recipe has been passed down for generations and we’re thrilled that homes across America can have a small piece of our family tradition.”

The first Zaro’s bakery opened in the Bronx in 1927 by Joseph Zaro, a Jewish immigrant from Poland. Today, the fourth generation of the Zaro family runs the business with a dozen standalone bakeries and nationwide availability of select products through retail markets. Zaro’s items are all made at the family bakery in Elmsford, New York.
