A new bakery is looking to be sweet, but spooky at the same time. The latest addition to the Arizona baking world is a horror/sci-fi-themed gluten-free bakery with a museum of actual screen-used props and wardrobes on display.

Chandler, Arizona’s Spooky's Swirls not only offers a taste of decadent treats, but a look at unique memorabilia from favorite horror, science fiction, fantasy, and superhero films. The bakery was created in partnership with The Horror & SciFi Prop Preservation Association (a not-for-profit organization that works to preserve film history), which supplies the more than 160 screen-used movie props and costumes throughout the shop.

Additionally, Spooky's Swirls hosts movie screenings on a large-screen TV and has a library of over 100 vintage magazines.

Among the bakery’s popular food items are Spooky’s Swirls (cinnamon bun), Scream Cheese Cakes (cheesecakes), breakfast Cinna-Sammies (sausage, egg, and cheese on a sliced cinnamon bun), custom sugar cookies that reflect the props on exhibit, and themed cupcakes. It’s also home to what it calls “the world’s strongest coffee,” Death Wish Coffee. According to the bakery, the caffeine-intense beverage is around 200 percent stronger than the average cup of coffee.

Spooky’s Swirls officially opened on Wednesday, July 3 and will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, August 10. Paul T. Taylor, the actor who played the character Pinhead in the 2018 film Hellraiser: Judgment, will be in-store signing a special Spooky’s “Pinhead” print free with the purchase of any select pastries or Death Wish Coffee.
