In honor of its centennial, Blue Diamond Growers is introducing the most comprehensive resource center in the world covering the history of Blue Diamond almonds over the past 100 years.

Founded in 1910 by a small group of 230 farmers, the Blue Diamond Growers cooperative led the development of California's almond industry from a minor domestic crop to the world leader in almond production. Headquartered in Sacramento, CA, Blue Diamond has more than half of California almond growers as members who deliver almonds to all 50 states and more than 90 foreign countries, making almonds California's largest food export and the sixth largest U.S. food export.

Their new historical website, AlmondHistory.com, features thousands of archived photos; historical stories and books, Classic Blue Diamond recipes, almond processing, and nutrition dating back to the beginning of the 20th century; and so much more.

Topics include the proven health benefits of almonds, beginning with Blue Diamond’s earliest studies from the 1920’s. A handful of almonds contains high amounts of protein, fiber, monounsaturated fat, vitamin E, calcium and other important minerals, and phytochemicals that may help protect against many common diseases.

Favorite nostalgic recipes from Blue Diamond's Classic Collection are also available. Remember the famous almond-shaped pinecone or the sherry almond cake?

Thanks to Blue Diamond innovations, almond goodness is now available in a variety of products such as Almond Breeze, an almond-based beverage for the lactose-intolerant market, Nut-Thins, a crispy cracker based on almond and rice for the gluten-free market, and in Almond Butter.
