Beginning Wednesday, March 1, Sprinkles locations across the country began selling its latest product innovation, cookie cupcakes.

The bakery chain, the nation’s first cupcake-only bakery, hopes to make a big impact with its new tempting treat. Sprinkles will also be selling the cookie cupcake at its signature cupcake ATMs.

The cupcake is a chocolate chip-studded yellow cake that’s lined with its own cookie crust. The topping is a brown sugar frosting that’s been dusted with crunchy cookie pieces.

The recipe for cookie cupcakes comes from The Sprinkles Baking Book, which came out in October of 2016. The New York Times bestseller features cupcake favorites and dessert classics from the pastry chef and creator of Sprinkles Cupcakes and judge on Food Network's Cupcake Wars, Candace Nelson.

Nelson says that she used other mash-ups as inspiration for this one. “You know I’m a fan of a great mash-up, and since Sprinkles is famous for its ice cream cupcake mash-ups, why not a cookie cupcake mash-up. Here, I take two of my favorite things in the world – cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies – and make them one,” she says.
