Applying creative designs using colorful sugar crystals on fondant is not only a great method for adding vibrant colors to your cake, but is also a quick and easy process.
This decorating can be applied to a cake that has fondant trim, small fondant features, or can be added to a cake that is completely covered in fondant. Either way, the process is the same.
Brush a small amount of water or piping gel onto the desired fondant piece. It should be applied with the design or shape you want the sugar crystal design to form. Once you have applied the design with the wet brush, lightly sprinkle the sugar crystals over the area. The sugar will stick to the moist fondant. Lightly brush or blow the remaining sugar crystals off of the cake.
This method can be done with cakes, cake pops or cupcakes, and the designs you can create are limitless.
