Halloween is right around the corner, and businesses everywhere have been preparing for the influx of customers in the next few weeks. Among those are retail bakeries, who will be offering seasonal products that are eye-catching and delicious.

These retail bakeries and their fellow local businesses will reap the benefits of the spooky season. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF)’s annual survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, total spending for Halloween is expected to reach $9 billion, the second highest in the survey’s 14-year history.

“The economy is good and consumer confidence is high, so families are ready to spend on Halloween this year,” says NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay.

More than 175 million Americans are planning to partake in Halloween festivities this year, stocking up on food, decorations, costumes, and much more. The average amount spent by celebrants is expected to be $86.79, up from last year’s $86.13.

According to the survey, consumers plan to spend $2.6 billion on candy (95 percent of Halloween shoppers). Celebrants will be sure to eat and hand out plenty of sweet goods for Halloween, so businesses are stocking up for the preceding days and weeks.
