When you grow up learning how to read from the back of a chocolate chip cookie package, one
might say it’s your destiny to become a pastry chef. That’s the career path fifth-generation Houstonian Sara Brook, owner and CEO of Dessert Gallery, chose.
Owner Amanda Michael, who named her place after daughter Jane, opened her first San Francisco location in 2011, starting with pastries, breakfast and lunch items. A second store followed in 2013. Then came their “bursting at the seams” moment.
