The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) announced a new award ahead of the Global Food Safety Conference set to take place in Houston from Feb. 27-March 2. The award is meant to highlight companies that have completed the GFSI Global Markets Program from beginning to end and have received full certification to a GFSI-benchmarked food safety management scheme.

“At GFSI, we want to raise the profile of companies around the world implementing this capability building program and celebrate the work that’s already having an impact,” said Véronique Discours-Buhot, GFSI director.

Winners will be recognized at the Global Food Safety Conference. All travel expenses and attendance to both the conference and Food Safety Discovery Tours will be provided for the winners through the support of Greenfence, a remote auditing and certification platform.

"I strongly encourage everyone who wants to make a difference in the supply chain to implement GFSI Global Markets," says Peter Begg, chair of the conference committee. "To apply or nominate someone for this award is to help raise awareness around these incredibly important efforts."

Applications are open until Feb. 7, 2017.
