Place all ingredients in a bowl as indicated one after another and knead with an electric mixer for 5 minutes until obtaining a smooth yeast dough. Place in the oven to rise for 15 minutes (at 125°F for 5 minutes, then turn off the oven). Remove and knead again briefly and leave to rise again for another 15 minutes.
Form 12 evenly sized rolls from the dough. Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet. Leave to rise again. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Bake the rolls on the lower rack of the preheated oven for about 25 minutes. Shortly before the end of the baking time, brush them with butter. They are best served fresh, spread with butter and jam.
