Bakers Square launches Salty Hog Pie
Bakers Square, Midwest's favorite casual dining chain, recently posed a mysterious question to the people of Chicago; "What is a Salty Hog?" Heads were scratched, feedback was broad and answers were plenty. Finally, the question is answered this September in the form of a decadent, original pie from Bakers Square. A blue ribbon winner at the 2011 National Pie Championships, this creation is sure to please every palette from serious bacon lovers to hard core sweet tooth junkies. It's the perfect combination of salty and sweet.
Available for the first time and only throughout September, the Salty Hog encompasses layers of salted caramel and roasted almonds, moist chocolate cake and Bakers Square's famous French silk in a flaky pie crust topped with candied bacon, fluffy whipped cream, and a salty caramel drizzle.
The Salty Hog was a Blue Ribbon winner at the 2011 American Pie Council National Pie Championships. The APC is the country's only organization committed to preserving America's pie heritage and promoting America's love affair with pies. Amateur, professional and commercial bakers compete for a coveted APC Blue Ribbon validating a pie's popularity on a national level.
"Winning a blue ribbon for Salty Hog was a great honor. This new pie pushes the envelope with a unique mix of flavors including bacon and is an exciting, limited-time pie for Bakers Square," says Jeff Guido, President, Family Division of American Blue Ribbon Holdings. "We are excited to offer this pie and are eager to hear what our guests think."
