Dog lovers will recognize a special day on Sunday, August 26, when National Dog Day takes place. Among those celebrating is cupcake bakery chain Sprinkles Cupcakes.

On August 25 and 26, the bakery will be offering a special in-store promotion on its popular dog-friendly treats at all of its nationwide locations. Customers will receive a free “Pupcake” with the purchase of any cupcake by whispering the phrase “Puppy Love” at checkout.

Pupcakes are 100% dog-friendly, sugar-free cupcakes topped with yogurt frosting. They don’t contain any ingredients that would be harmful to furry companions. Pupcakes typically range in price from $2.50 to $3.00, but Sprinkles Cupcakes wants to show extra love for dogs over the weekend.

National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by pet lifestyle expert and author Colleen Paige. The day encourages dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure, specifically through adoption. It is a goal for many on National Dog Day to find homes for dogs in need of a loving families.
