National Watermelon Day takes place Friday, August 3, and Dominique Ansel Bakery offers the perfect treat for this particular day.

On Wednesday-Sunday each week during the summer, the renowned bakery sells its popular watermelon soft serve. This fruit and soft serve hybrid features a slice of juicy, ripe watermelon with tiny hand-cut dark chocolate “seeds,” and is filled with homemade watermelon-flavored soft serve and sprinkled with sea salt.

The watermelon soft serve was first introduced at Dominique Ansel's Tokyo, Japan location last year. It became such a success overseas that it was added to the menu in New York this year.

Dominique Ansel’s New York bakery is also helping customers beat the heat this summer with another unique frozen treat. The bakery recently introduced Kiwi Sorbet Bars to the menu. These ice cream treats are made with kiwi sorbet and a Tahitian vanilla ice cream center, with poppy seeds that look like kiwi seeds and a milk chocolate coating on the outside.
