Inspired by an attempted promotion in which Build-A-Bear Workshop offered a “Pay Your Age Day” (which unfortunately caused chaos throughout the country), Hurts Donut ran a similar promotion with its donuts on Monday, July 16.

Hurts Donut’s “Pay Your Age Day” gave customers the opportunity to purchase one donut for the cost of their age. For example, a 25-year-old customer would only have to spend 25 cents for a donut, limited to one per person.

The promotion ran Monday at several of the donut shop’s locations, and it was so successful that the promotion carried over to more locations on Tuesday, July 17.

Hurts Donut, which has earned plenty of acclaim in just a few short years for its creative cake donuts, has quickly grown from its first location in Springfield, Missouri to locations throughout the Midwest and beyond. The 24-hour bakery specializes in handmade donuts topped with quirky ingredients. Some of its top sellers include maple bacon bars, cotton candy donuts, and any assorted toppings ranging from breakfast cereal to Nutella swirled into the shape of an emoji.

Among its other creative promotional ideas in recent years are offering delivery in its Emergency Donut Vehicle “ambulance” and introducing a Creepy Clown delivery man on Halloween 2017 that went viral on social media.
