Avalon International Breads, which has grown rapidly throughout Detroit, Michigan, will soon be a part of the city’s most prominent university.

Opening in August, the bakery's newest café will be located inside of the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University. The newly-constructed building will house more than 200 faculty and staff, as well as its many students. Avalon’s opening will coincide with the start of the Fall 2018 semester.

The 700-square-foot location will have a café counter, around 30 seats, and retail sales. It will open early and stay open late to accommodate the busy lives of students, faculty, and staff. Among the items the café will offer include breakfast sandwiches, coffee beverages, baked goods, and grab-and-go items like sandwiches and salads.

Last year, Avalon opened its innovative Biscuit Bar in Detroit. It features feature a bar for customizing buttermilk biscuits with toppings. With the addition of the new café at the Mike Ilitch School of Business, there will now be six Avalon locations throughout Detroit and Ann Arbor.
