One of the key programs that took place at IDDBA 18 in New Orleans on June 10-12 was the 2018 Cake Decorating Challenge. Three talented decorators from around the country competed to bring their designs to life during the three-day competition.

Among the challenges the decorators were tasked with included creating an eight-foot bakery case of cakes, two custom “300th Anniversary of New Orleans” themed cakes, and a tiered wedding cake.

Lindsay Anderson from Lunds & Byerlys in Minneapolis, Minnesota was named the winner of the competition. Second place went to Natasha Damm from Garden Home Market Place in Portland, Oregon, and third place went to Randy Stratton from Dillons in Wichita, Kansas.

IDDBA 18 attendees chose their favorite decorator each day through the People’s Choice Award, which went to Stratton on June 10, Anderson on June 11, and Damm on June 12.

A new award for this year was the Best Tasting Cake Award. Joshua John Russell from in2food judged this competition and the award went to Natasha Damm on June 10.
