Buddy Valastro, the famed “Cake Boss” from Hoboken, New Jersey’s Carlo’s Bakery, has been honored as a member of the New Jersey Hall of Fame.

During a May 6 ceremony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Valastro was inducted into the 2017 Hall of Fame class. City and state officials were present, including New Jersey governor Phil Murphy.

“Induction into the New Jersey Hall of Fame is the highest civilian honor that our State can bestow on someone. It’s a celebration of New Jersey that inspires the next generation of New Jersey leaders. Our inductees remind us how so many of our citizens have transformed the world, and how proud we should be of that fact as New Jerseyans,” said Governor Murphy.

Carlo's Bakery has come such a long way since opening in Hoboken. It is now located throughout the country, with stores in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Connecticut, Florida, Nevada, Minnesota, Georgia, and California.

Among the other members of the distinguished class of inductees includes actress Meryl Streep, singer Gloria Gaynor, singer Debbie Harry, members of the band The Four Seasons, astronauts Mark and Scott Kelly, and Olympic soccer player Carli Lloyd.
