Alex Bois, a 2016 James Beard Awards nominee for Rising Star Chef of the Year, has earned a stellar reputation in the city of Philadelphia. This top bread baker has run his Lost Bread Co. bakery as a wholesale business for the last year, but it will soon have a retail component as well.

Starting this weekend, Lost Bread Co. will have a part-time retail-café for customers to enjoy. Open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST (or until it sells out), the bakery will sell bread, pastries, and other baked goods.

Among the unique items Lost Bread Co. is offering to customers are pretzel shortbread cookies. According to the bakery, they have a “pretzel brittle inside plus a quick dip in lye pre-bake just like for a standard pretzel.”

This weekend’s event will also feature sabih sandwiches from Chef Ari Miller of Food Underground. Sabih is a traditional Mizrahi Jewish sandwich popular in Israel which consists of pita stuffed with fried eggplant and hard boiled eggs.
