The 35th Annual San Diego Cake Show is set to take place March 17-18 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Presented by the San Diego Cake Club, this popular cake event is one of the largest in the state of California.

It will feature a cake design competition open to everyone, a variety of decorating classes for all skill levels, skills and decorating demonstrations, raffles, and vendor booths featuring a wide range of decorating tools, tips, and supplies.

This year’s theme is ‘Rockn’ Cakes.’ Music and music culture of past decades will be celebrated and represented in cakes at the show. The biggest event of the weekend is the 2018 San Diego Cake Show Competition, with multiple levels including the Spectacular Cake Competition. In this event (which has both Individual and Group Divisions), entrants will create a cake that features the event’s theme.

The competition is also a qualifier for the Cake Designers World Championship at the International Federation of Pastry, Gelato, and Chocolate Event 2019 in Milan, Italy. It is one of the most prestigious in the cake world. At the last event, U.S. representative Bryson Perkins came in second place.

The San Diego Cake Show, otherwise known as “Confections for a Cause,” is more than just a cake show. A percentage of the proceeds from the show are donated to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charity of San Diego.

Tickets for the San Diego Cake Show are available at the event’s website.
