Parma, Ohio bakery Rudy’s Strudel hosts an annual party on Paczki Day, which takes place on Fat Tuesday before the start of the Lenten season. Many Midwestern bakeries specialize in this unique treat, but few celebrate it as well as Rudy’s.
The bakery will offer over 30 flavors of paczki, including savory editions like The Parma Paczki, with potato and cheese filling, and The Clevelander Paczki, with sauerkraut and kielbasa. Paczki tends to come in sweeter forms, filled with custards or jellies.
Rudy’s is advertising a special paczki this year, inspired by beloved Cleveland bakery Hough Bakery. It is filled with Hough Bakery’s famous buttercream.
In addition to paczki, the bakery will also hold special events. There will be live entertainment such as a band, a DJ, and polka lessons. Cleveland’s Terrestrial Brewing Company will also be there serving Old World-inspired beers.
