Candy plays a pivotal role in the celebration and enjoyment of Valentine’s Day. According to online candy retailer Candystore.com, candy will continue to experience strong sales in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day.

Conversation hearts will be one of the most popular choices around the country. In fact, Candystore.com notes that conversation hearts have finally overtaken heart-shaped boxes of chocolates in overall sales. In 2017, conversation hearts made up 10.2% of total Valentine’s Day candy sales, while heart-shaped boxes of chocolates only made up 9.6% of total sales.

Regardless of their status compared to each other, both of these items are popular choices for February 14. More than 40 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolates will be sold this year, and approximately 8.2 billion conversation hearts will be produced.
