One of the biggest names in cupcakes, Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown Cupcake creates countless desserts every year for customers here in the U.S. One of its most important batches of the year, however, gets shipped to a special group overseas.

Every year since 2010, the bakery has partnered with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to send over tens of thousands cupcakes to members of the U.S. Military serving in the Middle East, as well as those recovering from injuries in Germany.

This year, Georgetown Cupcake continued that trend by loading up an incredible 10,000 cupcakes on pallets and shipping them out of Andrews Air Force Base in Prince George’s County, Maryland. They will be sent to U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

Since opening in 2008, the bakery has donated cupcakes and made donations to many worthy causes. Some of the organizations they’ve worked with include Hope for Henry, a foundation that improves the day-to-day lives of children with cancer and other serious illnesses; Make-A-Wish Foundation; and Heroes Against Childhood Cancer.
