General Mills Foodservice announced that it is introducing a portfolio of baking products with no artificial flavors or colors under its Gold Medal and Pillsbury brands.

The move is part of the company’s commitment to recognizable ingredients in its products, including baking mixes and frozen baked goods. The reformulated versions of products such as brownies, cake, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and scones will begin to be rolled out in November.

“We are always looking at ways to improve our products to meet the changing needs and preferences of today’s consumers,” says Michael Braden, senior culinary manager for General Mills Foodservice. “General Mills is proud to offer a robust portfolio of baking products with a cleaner profile so our operators can feel even better about using these beloved products they already know and trust.”

Starting now, Gold Medal Biscuit, Griddle, and Bread mixes are available in the new versions, with Muffin Brownie, and Cake mixes to follow in June of 2018. Pillsbury Frozen Baked Goods will be available in with no artificial flavors or colors as well. The process came about through several rounds of testing to ensure preparation, performance, and quality of the products.

“General Mills understands the important role these products play in helping our customers in their own operations,” Braden says.  “We have made every effort to ensure our new baking portfolio matches the quality products that they have come to love and are confident the products will continue to deliver great-tasting, consistent results.”
