The National Gingerbread House Competition held its 25th annual edition on Monday, November 20 at The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. The event takes place each year before the start of the Christmas season to showcase the best gingerbread house artistry in the country.

170 artists from all over North America entered into the competition, all vying for the chance to win $25,000 in cash and prizes.

Each entry is required to be made of at least 75 percent gingerbread. A panel of qualified judges including world-renowned pastry chefs, artists, and media experts evaluate the entries based on overall appearance, originality/creativity, difficulty, precision, and consistency of theme.

This year’s Grand Prize Winner in the Adult category was Ann Bailey of Cary, North Carolina. Second place was Glenda Tant of Lebanon, Tennessee and third place was Beatriz Muller of Innisfil, Ontario, Canada.

The Omni Grove Park Inn will be displaying all gingerbread designs from Sunday, November 26 through Thursday, January 4, 2018 to visitors on a complimentary basis. You can see all the winners in the adult, teen, youth, and child categories here.
