America's favorite Thanksgiving pie flavors, according to Delta Dental.

American adults are sticking to traditional flavors when it comes to their Thanksgiving pies. This information comes courtesy of Delta Dental, which has been tracking holiday pie preferences for three years.

One of the nation's leading dental benefits provider, Delta Dental surveyed adult consumers nationwide to determine the most popular pie flavors for this time of the year. Pumpkin pie continues its dominance, with 36 percent choosing it as their favorite. The flavor is most popular with the Baby Boomer generation, who favorited it at 41 percent, while the generation that favorited it the least was Gen-Xers at 28 percent.

The region of the country that prefers pumpkin pie the most is the West, with 44 percent. The flavor is the least popular in the South, at 31 percent.

Pecan pie is the second most popular Thanksgiving pie flavor nationwide, at 17 percent. The third most popular flavor is apple (14 percent), followed by sweet potato (10 percent) and chocolate (9 percent).

“Whatever favorite pie, or pies, you indulge in this Thanksgiving, remember to take the time to brush and floss away the sugary remnants. A healthy smile is something to be thankful for too,” says Bill Kohn, DDS, Delta Dental Plans Association's vice president of dental science and policy.
