Incredible Cuisine in Geneva, Switzerland specializes in eye-catching cake designs, and its latest is a true work of art.

Using 530 individual pieces of fondant, the company has recreated the famous Ouchi Illusion created by Japanese artist Hajime Ouchi. In the illusion, the central disk seems to float above the checkered background when moving the eyes around while viewing the figure.

It works based on the random horizontal and vertical jitters of your eyes. The cake’s visual is almost as satisfying as its taste.

The design is created with a circle of vertical black and white rectangles surrounded by horizontal black and white rectangles.  It is simple to do, as illustrated in the above video from Incredible Cuisine.
