Housed at a 12,000-square-foot facility in Port of Skagit, The Bread Lab will commit to the research and development of flavorful and nutritious crop varieties, the restoration of regional grain economies, and innovation in partnership with the community and industry.

The facility will include wheat milling and bread baking labs, a professional kitchen, and meeting areas for collaboration and experimentation.

Participating in the July 26 grand opening will be Washington State University president Kirk Schulz, WSU College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences dean Ron Mittelhammer, Executive Port of Skagit executive director Patricia Botsford-Martin, and Director of the Bread Lab Stephen Jones.

The event will feature a reception with refreshments and a special tour of the facility to explore the science behind the bread. Attendees can RSVP at The Bread Lab’s website.
