Dominique Ansel Bakery is celebrating its second birthday in Tokyo, Japan with a new bakery treat that sounds like it could be a summer sensation here in the United States as well.

The world-famous bakery has introduced a watermelon soft-serve food hybrid. It’s a slice of fresh, juicy watermelon filled with watermelon-flavored ice cream. It also includes chocolate “seeds” and sea salt sprinkled on top.

Tokyo ice cream enthusiasts will surely enjoy this new treat. Japan experiences same seasons as we do in America, so they are currently undergoing warm temperatures – making this watermelon soft-serve the perfect snack.

This recipe can be easily replicated at any bakery, using fresh slices of watermelon filled with any flavor of soft-serve. Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, watermelon, and many other flavors would make excellent soft serve additions.
