City Bakery, opened in 1990 in New York City, will soon open its first location outside of New York when it expands to Detroit, Michigan.

Giving the Midwest a taste of such specialties as the pretzel croissant and its famous hot chocolate, City Bakery will be located inside Detroit’s Fisher Building. It will open daily for breakfast and lunch until late afternoon. Signature pastries and desserts will be available, as well as a full lunch menu consisting of sandwiches, salads, pizza, and other hot foods.

Detroit-based developer The Platform has worked to get the bakery café up-and-running for fall 2017. Aside from the coffeehouse, bakery, and chocolate shop that will be located in the Fisher Building, The Platform is also working to help City Bakery build a full commissary kitchen that City Bakery and other restaurants would eventually use.
