National Doughnut Week in the United Kingdom is a chance for the baking community to raise funds for The Children’s Trust, the U.K.’s leading charity for children with brain injury.

This year, CSM Bakery Solutions, an international leader in the baking industry, will be sponsoring this charitable event. Bakers can register to take part in the week, and CSM will send them a promotional material pack in order to assist them in raising as much money as possible through doughnut sales.

Last year was the 25th anniversary of National Doughnut Week in the U.K., and 394 bakers were able to raise £22,783, or rough $28,378 U.S. dollars, for The Children’s Trust. This year, the event takes place May 6-13 in the United Kingdom.

“I do hope that bakers, coffee shops and the public will get behind this year's National Doughnut Week and help to raise as much money as possible for a very special charity,” says Phil Tufnell, Ambassador of The Children’s Trust.

Since it began in 1991, National Doughnut Week has raised over £850,074 for children’s charities, selling over 14 million doughnuts. In 2005, National Doughnut Week joined forces with The Children’s Trust and has since donated over £349,800.
