The Midwife Center (TMC) is excited to announce its 11th annual fundraiser and cake contest, Let Them Eat Cake on Saturday, April 30 at the Pittsburgh Opera. The theme is: I Wanna Rock! This year’s rockin’ theme will encourage bakers and decorators to create beautiful and delicious cakes based on rock music throughout the ages.

The event will be held from 7:30-10 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Opera. Professional and amateur bakers will submit their cakes to be rated by a panel of expert judges, including Jason Roth and Angelique Bamberg of City Paper and Laura Zorch of eatPGH. Event attendees will also vote for the People’s Choice Awards for Best Taste and Decorated Cakes. Winners will receive gift certificates to Whole Foods, handcrafted serving plates by Riverside Design and will be announced in local and Midwife Center media outlets.

The event will include cake tasting and decorated cakes display, an open beer & wine bar, refreshments, a fabulous silent auction, a rock star photo booth and entertainment featuring favorite rock songs from all decades.

Net proceeds will benefit The Midwife Center, Pittsburgh’s only licensed and freestanding birth center which offers primary gynecological care, prenatal care and childbirth services. More information and tickets are available at www.midwifecenter.org or by contacting The Midwife Center at 412-321-6880, extension 208.
