So You Think You Can Dance cast visits Piccione Pastry

The cast of So You Think You Can Dance, the 13-time Primetime Emmy Award-winning show that sparked America’s fascination with dance, recently performed at the historic Fox Theatre in St. Louis. The cast and crew enjoyed a variety of authentic Italian pastries from Piccione Pastry, the only late-night Italian pastry shop of its kind in St. Louis.

“We absolutely loved the treats,” said one performer. “They were so delicious they didn’t even make it on to the bus for the next stop in Kansas City, Missouri!”

Richard Nix Jr., owner of Piccione Pastry, opened the shop in 2013 with inspiration from his grandmother (Grace Viviano Piccione) and the Piccione family history in St. Louis. Piccione, which means “pigeon” in Italian, is not only a salute to Richard’s family, but more importantly to his Italian heritage. Guests feel content in knowing years of family history have been involved in creating the shop’s handmade cannoli, pastries, cakes and cookies.

Piccione Pastry specializes in single-serve Italian desserts, rich Italian coffees, locally handcrafted gelato and sorbet, and seasonal breakfast and lunch choices. Piccione Pastry chefs create recipes from scratch, bake in small batches and use the highest quality ingredients for their desserts. Tarda Colazione (late-breakfast) is available on Saturday and Sunday and features seasonal brunch items. The shop offers vegan, vegetarian, sugar-free and gluten-free options.

Piccione Pastry is located in St. Louis’ historic Delmar Loop, “One of the 10 Greatest Streets in America” according to the American Planning Association.

“We are so happy that the cast and crew of “So You Think You Can Dance” enjoyed our pastries,” said Piccione pastry chef Sandia Hoormann. “We pride ourselves on preparing delicious seasonal and traditional menu items while representing our Italian heritage in a modern way. To know that guests enjoy our treats brings joy to what we do every day.”
