Harvest Specialty Mills said it has secured C$2.6 million ($2.1 million) in Series-A funding to build a 21,000-square-foot grain cleaning, milling and packaging facility in Burlington, Ont. The facility will be HACCP, kosher, and BRC certified, and will offer grains, pulses and dried fruits.

“Harvest Specialty Mills is strategically positioned to take advantage of the growing trend to mainstream highly nutritious ingredients by melding artisanal grains, pulses and dried fruits with modern sales techniques, utilizing Shopify infrastructure,” said Jon Dwyer, chief executive officer of Harvest Specialty Mills. “Our new facility, matched with this innovative technology, will allow us to fulfill orders for all customers; from kitchen pantries, to bulk orders and national contracts for some of North America and Europe's largest bakeries and food producers.”

Jeffrey Deacon, chairman of Harvest Specialty Mills, added, “The Canadian manufacturing industry is a cornerstone of our economy and poised for continued growth. Harvest Specialty Mills is positioned to provide premium products to a multitude of organizations from family businesses to large multinationals.
