Chicago’s Do-Rite Donuts & Coffee began selling white truffle donuts at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11—for $20 each. The yeast-raised donuts – developed by Do-Rite’s pastry chefs and Rodrick Markus, owner of Lakeview’s truffle-selling Rare Tea Cellar – feature truffle syrup, fleur del sel, Valrhona chocolate shavings, and three grams of freshly-shaved white truffles. Do-Rite is hoping its new pastry will become “the next cronut.”

Markus previously collaborated with Lincoln Park’s Balena restaurant and created a truffle pizza, which the restaurant is selling for $99 through truffle season.
