On Saturday, May 3, Famous Amos celebrated its 50th anniversary with a block party in Los Angeles, honoring the legacy of brand founder Wally Amos. Known for his legendary block parties in the ‘70s and ‘80s, Famous Amos commemorated his legacy and the cookies that made him famous.

This year, Wally Amos' family joined in the festivities, including his children Sarah, Shawn and Michael Amos. The event was a vibrant celebration filled with music, dancing, art, including an original mural by artist OG Slick and, of course, cookies.

A highlight of the day was the recognition from the County of Los Angeles and the California State Legislature, mirroring the accolades Wally Amos received when he first started his iconic block parties 50 years ago. The acknowledgment underscores the enduring impact of Famous Amos on the community and the cookie industry.

Wally Amos’ legacy continues with his iconic cookies, as well as through the 2025 Famous Amos Ingredients for Success (IFS) Entrepreneurs Initiative, in partnership with the US Black Chambers, Inc. Now in its fifth year, the IFS program creates pathways for early-stage Black business owners to thrive by providing a total of $150,000 in awards each year. IFS awards three recipients $50,000 in addition to mentorship and access to networking and educational resources. The program celebrates the qualities that make business owners unique and fosters long-term success for their companies.
