Levain Bakery, home to New York City’s most famous cookies, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Best friends Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald opened a small bread shop on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in 1995, and three decades later, Levain Bakery has cemented its reputation with its six-ounce cookies, expanding to 16 locations nationwide.
To kick off the 30th year, Levain has announced the return of its fan-favorite Lemon Cookie. Since its seasonal debut in 2024, the Lemon Cookie has been one of the bakery’s most requested flavors. The cookie is generously sprinkled with lemon chips, offering a zesty, citrusy fusion with just the right touch of sweetness.
The Lemon Cookie is now available online and at all Levain Bakery locations.
“We can hardly believe it’s been 30 years already! What started as our tiny bread bakery has grown into something beyond our wildest expectations. It has been incredible to watch Levain grow while remaining a neighborhood bakery,” says Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald, co-founders of Levain Bakery.
