Clear Lam Packaging, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of engineered flexible and rigid packaging materials, will make several exciting new announcements at PACK EXPO International 2012.

Clear Lam announces a new agreement with Toyota Tsusho, a leading global supplier of Bio-PET (polyethylene terephthalate). Clear Lam will be the lead company in North America to launch the Bio-PET product in rollstock form. This development expands Clear Lam’s leadership role in sustainable packaging and its offerings of renewable alternatives to traditional plastics.  Bio-PET materials are up to 30 percent plant-based and they are as recyclable as petroleum-based PET.

Clear Lam’s new PrimaPak product line offers a flexible, stackable replacement for rigid containers, bottles and jars. It is produced from a single roll of film and incorporates a recloseable Peel and ReSeal Lidding Film for added consumer convenience. PrimaPak helps processors and retailers meet their sustainability goals by delivering improved cube and weight reduction compared to traditional rigid packaging, reducing truck shipments and warehousing requirements. The PrimaPak is designed to retain the attributes of rigid packaging while delivering the benefits of lighter weight, flexible materials.

New Clear Lam Peel and ReSeal Lidding Film eliminates the need for preformed, rigid lids. The new packaging features a consumer-friendly design that is easy to open and it offers processors improved efficiencies for assembly lines. Compared to packaging containers with a rigid lid, the Peel and ReSeal Lidding Film improves shipping cube, reduces weight by about 30 percent and provides an enhanced safety seal.

Clear Lam recently completed an expansion of its Forming Films Division through a $2 million investment in new manufacturing equipment and technologies for its Elk Grove Village, Ill. plant. These investments include a new sheet co-extruder adding 15 million pounds of capacity and machinery adding slitting capabilities. Clear Lam specializes in producing custom materials for structures that utilize a variety of bioplastics, as well as traditional petroleum-based plastics. Clear Lam continues to invest in new technologies and equipment representing the latest co-extrusion advancements.
