Just over 13 months ago, in Game 1 of the 2011 Eastern Conference finals, Chicago Bulls power forward Taj Gibson dunked over the iconic, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade.

Given all that's happened in the interim — the Heat taking that series en route to an NBA Finals loss to the Dallas Mavericks, the 161-day NBA lockout and subsequent 66-game sprint to the postseason, injuries to Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah leading to Chicago's first-round exit at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami's run through the East to its second straight Finals and a five-game victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder that gave Wade his second NBA championship — that 13 months seems like it might as well be 13 years. But Bulls fans haven't forgotten, and neither has Gibson's friend/employee Floyd Johnson, who contracted Chicago cake shop TipsyCake to immortalize the rise of Taj using sugar, eggs, flour and, of course, fondant in celebration of Gibson's 27th birthday.

Nice defense, Cake Dwyane Wade. A creative use of sweets. We have not yet seen photographic images of Gibson actually taking down a piece of the cake, so we can not yet answer the age-old question of whether, if he were both a cake and starving, Taj Gibson would eat himself. We will keep our eyes peeled, with a tall glass of milk at the ready, for further developments.
